Jimmy S.Y. Liew

Jimmy S.Y. Liew is a Partner at Shearn Delamore & Co., practicing in Dispute Resolution, encompassing both court litigation and arbitration. He handles a wide range of corporate and commercial disputes, including fraud and forgery, probate and administration, landlord‑tenant conflicts, liquidation, and insolvency matters.

Jimmy has acted in several high‑profile cases: he represented the family of the late Puan Sri Lim Goh Tong in the Genting Family dispute, involving a corporate battle with assets exceeding RM400 million and a probate action challenging a will. He also represented Lam Soon Edible Oils in a fraud claim against former employees over a 10,526‑metric‑tonne shortfall of palm oil, a two‑year trial with 31 witnesses. In an international arbitration under the ICC, he acted for a local investment company in a joint‑venture dispute over a bitumen plant, with parallel oppression litigation reaching the Federal Court. He has also acted for Malaysia Airports in obtaining a mandatory injunction, and for receivers and liquidators in major asset sales, including a RM516 million land sale and the disposal of Tanjung Rhu Resort.

Jimmy holds an LL.B (Hons) from the University of London and a Certificate in Legal Practice. He was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2001. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators, a panel member of the Bar Council Malaysian International Mediation Centre, and a member of the SIAC List of Rising Arbitrators.
