Soh Yin Chuin

Soh Yin Chuin is a Partner and Co-Head of the Maritime & Aviation Practice at Allen & Gledhill LLP (Singapore), and is admitted to practice in England & Wales, Singapore and Malaysia. He is based at Rahmat Lim & Partners in Malaysia, the associate firm of Allen & Gledhill.

He advises on a wide range of transactions involving maritime and other movable assets, including loan and lease financings, green and sustainable financings, asset sales, debt restructuring and enforcement. His practice also encompasses general banking transactions, including bilateral and syndicated loans, structured and limited recourse financings, and asset- and share-backed financings. His clients include banks and financial institutions, private capital providers, trusts, sponsors, corporate borrowers, owners and lessees. Notable matters include acting as Malaysian counsel to a Singapore bank on the restructuring of approximately US$150 million facilities involving security over 10 vessels across five jurisdictions; assisting a Malaysian client with the reflagging of 11 vessels; acting as Malaysian counsel to a Danish bank on a US$77 million facility to finance three LNG vessels; and advising a Norwegian private equity firm on a sale and leaseback of an Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessel and subsequent enforcement.

He holds an LL.B. (Hons) from the National University of Singapore (2003) and was awarded an NUS-ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship. He was admitted to the Singapore Bar in 2004, the Malaysian Bar in 2015, and as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2024. He was previously seconded to the London office of Linklaters LLP in 2009.

He is ranked Band 1 in Shipping: Domestic: Finance by Chambers Global / Asia-Pacific and recommended by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific and IFLR1000, with clients describing him as "very experienced and committed", "bright and fast", and "prompt, commercial and helpful".
