Koo Yin Soon

Koo Yin Soon is a Partner in the Dispute Resolution, Restructuring & Insolvency Practice at Shearn Delamore & Co., specialising in dispute resolution, banking litigation, and restructuring and insolvency. He advises financial institutions, corporates, and debtors on recovery and foreclosure portfolios, loan enforcement, receiverships, and restructuring mechanisms including schemes of arrangement.

Yin Soon has acted for an international FI in the realisation of maritime assets with an aggregate value of over RM200 million, and for a local FI with an exposure of over RM100 million in navigating consecutive restructuring attempts by the debtor and creditors. He regularly appears in courts at all levels in corporate and commercial disputes, and advises on regulatory matters including challenges to state levies and telecommunications standards. His practice also covers SIDREC proceedings, structured product litigation, and challenges to securities under Section 340 of the National Land Code.

Yin Soon holds an LL.B (Hons) from the University of London, is a Barrister-at-Law of Lincoln's Inn, and was called to the High Court of Malaya as an Advocate & Solicitor in 2010. He is a co-author of Chapter 21: Banking and Financing Arbitration in Arbitration in Malaysia: A Practical Guide (Sweet & Maxwell, 2016).
