Syed Rashid bin Rahim Alsree

Syed Rashid bin Rahim Alsree is a Partner in the Financial Services Department of Rahmat Lim & Partners, focusing on banking and finance, with extensive experience across a wide spectrum of financing transactions including domestic and cross-border bilateral and syndicated loans, acquisition and project financing, aviation financing, Islamic financing and debt restructuring. He also advises on companies and securities laws and assists financial institutions in the development of structured products.

Notable transactions include advising Maybank Investment Bank Berhad and RHB Investment Bank Berhad on the issuance of Islamic medium term notes of up to RM6.0 billion for Sarawak Petchem Sdn. Bhd. to part-finance the development of a methanol plant in Bintulu, Sarawak—which won "Project & Infrastructure Finance Deal of the Year" at the Islamic Finance News Deals of the Year Awards 2022; advising financiers in connection with syndicated Shariah-compliant facilities of up to RM2.0 billion for Malayan Cement Berhad; and advising a syndicate of lenders on the multi-currency financing of the acquisition of McDonald's franchise rights in Singapore and Malaysia by a consortium including Qatar's Al-Mana Group and Saudi Arabia's Reza Group.

Rashid holds an LL.B. (Hons) from the University of London and was admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 2011. He is a former practicing accountant and an associate member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and holds a Diploma in Islamic Finance certified by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

He is recognised as Highly Regarded in Islamic Finance by IFLR1000, ranked as a Leading Partner in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific, and commended in Chambers Asia-Pacific for his "strong work" in corporate and financing transactions.
