Yee Mei Ken

Yee Mei Ken is a Partner at Shearn Delamore & Co., specializing in Dispute Resolution. He handles corporate and commercial litigation, family business feuds, shareholders' and directors' disputes, banking and insolvency litigation, asset and debt recovery, and arbitration. He is also the Head of the Firm's China Desk.

Ken has acted as lead counsel in the high‑profile and contentious Genting family dispute, involving multiple litigations including shareholders' disputes, trust litigation, and probate actions, advising on the administration of the estate of the late founding matriarch of the Genting family. He acted as counsel for Nielsen in a globally unique market research and readership litigation up to the Federal Court, successfully defending a RM300 million claim and recovering trial costs of RM600,000. He defended Star Media Group and its Editor‑in‑Chief in a high‑profile libel claim by a Malay Rights Group, successfully striking out the action. He acted for Singapore Press Holdings Ltd in a libel claim, successfully setting aside an injunction with damages awarded to SPH. He also acted for HSBC Bank in a multi‑million Quincecare claim, successfully striking out the action. Ken advises on schemes of arrangement for creditors, anti‑money laundering, anti‑corruption, and breach of trust matters, and has niche experience in defamation, including online publication claims, frequently defending media and news publishers. He is effectively trilingual and conducts training for editors and journalists at both English and Chinese media organisations.

Ken holds an LL.B (Hons) from the University of Wales (Cardiff) and is a Barrister‑at‑Law of Lincoln's Inn. He was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1997 and admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1998. He is a member of the Malaysian Bar, the International Bar Association, the Inter‑Pacific Bar Association, and the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators.
