Reena Enbasegaram

Reena Enbasegaram is a Partner in the Employment & Industrial Relations Practice at Shearn Delamore & Co., specialising in employment law, industrial relations, and disciplinary and grievance proceedings. She provides legal advice across a wide range of employment matters, including disciplinary action procedures, managing unsatisfactory performance, restructuring exercises, and drafting and vetting employment-related documents.

Reena has appeared before the Industrial Court, High Court, Court of Appeal, and Federal Court in numerous landmark employment cases. She successfully represented Singapore Airlines Limited in affirming the termination of an employee for misconduct involving passengers, which the High Court upheld as justified. She also overturned an Industrial Court decision in Hong Leong Islamic Bank Berhad v Wan Ahmad Firdaus, successfully arguing that absenteeism was a serious misconduct and that the employer had the right to take action. In Consolidated Plantations Bhd v Balasubramaniam, she obtained summary judgment for eviction of former employees from staff quarters following termination, confirming that there was no certainty of reinstatement. She also assisted on numerous appellate cases involving collective agreements and union disputes.

Reena holds an LL.B (Hons) from the University of Glamorgan, Wales, completed the Certificate in Legal Practice, and was called to the High Court of Malaya as an Advocate & Solicitor in 2000. She is a member of the Malaysian Bar and the International Bar Association.
