Suganthi Singam

Suganthi Singam is a Partner at Shearn Delamore & Co., heading the Immigration and Employment & Industrial Relations practices, specializing in Employment Law. She is engaged in trial and appellate advocacy at all levels of the Malaysian courts in both contentious and non‑contentious employment and immigration matters.

Suganthi provides strategic guidance on employment and immigration issues in corporate mergers and acquisitions, business acquisitions, reorganisations, voluntary and mutual separation schemes, and retention of key management personnel. She also advises on occupational health and safety, sexual harassment policies and procedures, and trade union recognition. Notable cases include successfully defending a company in Abdul Malek Bin Mohamed v MISC Bhd, where the Industrial Court upheld the dismissal of a long‑serving employee for poor performance despite 32 years of service; defending the termination of an employee for insubordination in Ranjit Kaur S Gopal Singh v Hotel Excelsior (M) Sdn Bhd; and successfully defending a company in the first Industrial Court case where dismissal based on drug analysis from a hair sample was upheld in Mohd Fairuz bin Jamaludeen v MISC Berhad.

Suganthi holds an LL.B. from the University of Manchester (1994) and an LL.M. from the University of Malaya. She was admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 1996.
