Raneesha Thayalan

Raneesha Thayalan is a Partner at Zain & Co., practicing in the Dispute Resolution department. She handles a wide range of civil and commercial disputes, with particular experience in landlord‑tenant, property disputes, land acquisition, insolvency, and probate matters.

Raneesha regularly advises and represents the master developer of Malaysia's administrative capital city on tenancy disputes and recovery proceedings. She has acted for a subsea equipment rental company in breach of contract claims against subsidiaries of an integrated oil and gas services company, including settlement negotiations. She represented a leading plantation company in land reference proceedings arising from compulsory acquisition for a highway project, and has advised a major highway concessionaire on land acquisition exercises for elevated expressway projects in the Klang Valley. She also acted as counsel for a subsidiary of a Malaysian oil and gas public listed company in resisting a suit for damages amounting to approximately RM 2.2 million relating to an alleged breach of contract for supply of cargo handling equipment.

Raneesha holds an LL.B (Hons) from the University of Liverpool (2012). She was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2013 and to the Malaysian Bar in 2014. She is an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya and a Barrister‑at‑Law of the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn.
