Nicholas Tan Choi Chuan is a Partner and Deputy Head of the Corporate/M&A practice at Shearn Delamore & Co., specialising in mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and cross-border investments. Nicholas has advised on some of Malaysia's most significant transactions, including acting for China Railway Engineering Corporation (M) Sdn. Bhd. in the RM7.41 billion acquisition of a 60% stake in Bandar Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.; acting as Malaysian counsel for Saudi Aramco (instructed by White & Case) on its US$7 billion investment and joint venture with Petronas in the RAPID project in Pengerang; acting as Malaysian counsel for Laureate Education, Inc. (instructed by DLA Piper) on the sale of the INTI Education group for approximately USD 140 million; and advising Scientex Berhad on its privatisation of Daibochi Berhad and its acquisition of a 42% stake for approximately RM222.5 million. He also advises on equity capital markets work, including IPOs and significant corporate exercises.

Nicholas holds an LL.B (Hons) from the University of Northumbria, a Master of Commercial Law from the University of Malaya, and an MBA from the University of Nottingham. He is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia (ICDM), co-chair of the ELA Global Mergers and Acquisition Group, and has been recognised as a leading lawyer for Corporate/M&A by Chambers and Partners Asia Pacific and IFLR1000.
